I get the impression that Bates is more hippie, crunchie than Bowdoin, Middlebury, Colgate or Hamilton. Hamilton and Bates have a fair amount higher % coming from prep schools (~45%) than does Colgate (~34%).</p>I know my story isn't all that relevant to your situation, but focusing on non-academic aspects of each college will help you narrow down where you want to be. I believe you mentioned previously that you received a scholarship from Bucknell, so if financing college is a huge issue, then I would probably choose the cheapest of your final four.</p>At some schools, it appears that ED really increases your chances of admissions. At others, not so much. My DD will be applying next year. She will probably have a 3.9-4.0 UW GPA, and a SAT in the 1300-1400 range, maybe a little higher.
